PPCP adds GI Specialist

(CHARLESTON, SC – April 16, 2012) Aaron Domm, MD has joined Palmetto Primary Care Physicians as the group’s Gastroenterologist Specialist. In early 2011, Palmetto Primary Care Physicians became a multi-specialty practice that now includes 47 primary care physicians, 2 neurologists, a sleep lab specialist, a vein specialist and now, with the addition of Dr. Domm – a GI specialist.

“GI disorders are among the most common type of complaint among our patients,” states David Castellone, M. D., the group’s president, “Dr. Domm will be able to help us close that gap in care. Our patients will receive a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment and with the care coordination between their family physician and GI specialist, they won’t feel “lost” in a system”.

While Summerville GI just opened its doors at the beginning of April, Dr. Domm has treated patients in the Lowcountry since 2008 and is well respected within the medical community. He underwent his GI training at UCLA before moving from California to Charleston in 2007. Prior to his GI fellowship, Dr. Domm served as Chief Resident while receiving his Internal Medicine training at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. He attended the Medical College of Ohio for medical school.
In addition, Dr. Domm has received advanced training in endoscopic ultrasound from the Medical University of South Carolina. Endoscopic ultrasound is a procedure used to diagnose, stage, and treat GI cancers.

A GI Specialist can diagnose and treat several gastrointestinal problems including colon cancer screening, reflux, diarrhea, abdominal pain, IBS, liver disorders and inflammatory bowel diseases. With the addition of Dr. Domm, Palmetto Primary Care Physicians patients will have a specialist dedicated to digestive health — both preventative and therapeutic.

“I am excited to join a progressive physicians group that finds value in care coordination among specialty practices,” states Dr. Domm. “Moving my practice full time to Summerville will provide easier access for patients both to my clinic and procedures in the Tri-County area. I look forward to becoming a part of Palmetto Primary Care and the Summerville community.” Summerville GI is located at 300 West 4th North Street.
