Why do physicians need an organization like PPCP?
The need has been spawned by the increasing rate at which patients are falling under managed care as their primary form of health insurance. With managed care a patient's course of treatment is in large part determined by protocols developed by their health plan provider, not their physician. What PPCP does for its members is to negotiate and work with insurance providers to obtain contracts to provide patient care that allow physicians to maintain clinical autonomy; their freedom to diagnose and treat their patients to the best of their ability without non-medical influences and with their patients' health and wellness as their foremost concern.
