Dr. Canfield completed medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in 1983. He trained in Family Medicine at the University of South Alabama, Department of Family Practice, from 1983-1986, serving as the Chief Resident. He served as Chief Resident during his final year. He then served as Chief Family Physician and Senior Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force from 1986-1995. Currently, he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonial in the Air Force Reserve. He is a Board Certified diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice and fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is active in the local Boy Scouts and Medical Out-Reach Ministries.
